French Toast Recipe (Serves 2)

This easy French toast recipe is a breakfast classic made with eggs, milk, and your favourite bread. Lightly sweet, perfectly golden, and ready in under 15 minutes, it’s perfect for busy mornings or cosy weekend brunches. Customise it with syrup, fruit, or powdered sugar

Ingredients:
4 slices of bread (white, brioche, or sourdough work best)
2 large eggs
½ cup (120 ml) milk
1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
1 tablespoon butter (for frying)
A pinch of salt
To serve (optional):
Maple syrup or honey
Fresh fruit
Powdered sugar

Step-by-Step Instructions
Prepare the egg mixture
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
Heat the pan
Place a frying pan or skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Allow it to melt and lightly coat the pan.
Soak the bread
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, letting it soak for about 5–10 seconds per side. The bread should be coated but not soggy.

Cook the French toast
Place the soaked bread slices into the hot pan. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and slightly crisp.

Serve immediately
Remove from the pan and serve warm. Top with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or a light dusting of powdered sugar if desired.

Tip
For extra-rich French toast, use slightly stale bread, it absorbs the egg mixture better without falling apart.

Enjoy your homemade French toast! 🍞🥚🍯
